THE BEST EUROPEAN SHOW @TEATRO DUE, PARMA

edrakos2000

What would happen in Europe if a theatrical competition had the same importance as the Champions League? The same resonance as the Eurovision Song Contest? The same political relevance as the World Economic Forum?

The satirical comedy 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰, by Marko Bratuš and Haris Pašović, tries to answer these questions by bringing on stage a jury committed to determining the winners of a theatre festival, Eurovision Song Contest style.

The jury, made up of government officials and artists, will analyze the 10 finalist shows of the competition presented in the form of trailers, offering excellent ideas for thinking about urgent issues in EU countries (immigration, war, racism, rights, global warming, Brexit...).

In Brussels during the last evening of the event the judging process will turn into an all-night journey, the task of determining which is the best European show will prove more difficult than expected, revealing a tangle of politics, personal ambitions, love affairs and bold artistic visions. The stakes are high, the pressure is growing. And almost everything that can go wrong, goes wrong...

The show is the result of an international co-production between the Teatro Due Foundation of Parma and four other European theaters belonging to the E.T.C.-European Theater Convention network (Poland, Kosovo, Malta, Slovenia).

With an international cast made up of actresses and actors from each of the co-producing countries, the show will be performed in English with Italian surtitles.

The Best European Show will make its national premiere at Teatro Due on Saturday 21 October at 8.30 pm, with a repeat on Sunday 22 October at 4.00 pm.

The show will be preceded, at 7.00 pm, by the creation Mnémosyne by the choreographer and visual artist Josef Nadj. In Mnémosyne the artist will combine photography and performance on stage by inviting the visitor into a dark room where he will be the spectator of a short performance of rare density, in homage to the unfinished Atlas of the German art historian Aby Warburg.
